NIGHT WING 夜翼
Night Wing 夜翼, 2022. Hand painted teardrop fascinator base, wave fabric from New York, black and lagoon blue sinamay from New Jersey, a horse necklace pendant that travels with Liu Ying all these years.
"In our heavy body, somewhere deep, there is a pair of invisible night wings. Hidden somewhere in the body, only in the purest moon night, they will open up and carry one to fly with the buoyant force from the moonlight." Liu Ying's fiction "Ah Bu" depicts the girl Ah Bu's imagination of night wings, which can bring her out of the darkness in daily life and go to somewhere with pure love and trust. Maybe the sadness, like all other waves in the ocean of life, as a calling to open up to the inherent vastness in ourselves. And only when in the darkness, the night wings will grow and promise us to a magical land. The fascinator has a horse necklace pendant that travels with Liu Ying all these years, that's where the night wings will rest when they are not in flight.

这顶礼帽和《夜翼》是一对，属于柳营的女儿植蔓。桃花源是一个想象的乌托邦，在那里人们能够过着平静和理想的生活。“植蔓”的名字背后含着妈妈的期许，从你的心中每天就能长出花来，然后变成能够丰富内心的桃花源。
This fascinator is a pair with Night Wing, and belongs to Liu Ying's daughter Zhi Man. "Zhi Man" means branches and tendrils. The peach blossom spring is an ethereal utopia where people led an ideal and peaceful life. As the branches and tendrils are intrinsic to your name, flowers will grow out of you everyday, and become the peach blossom spring that always nurture you.

A combination of hand-colored feather and a dried daisy from an Iranian bookstore in Boston, this hat reminds me of a bowerbird's brightly colored nest: oh, I love pleasing you! The hat is a gift to Janine Feng, who now resides in Arizona and Mexico. Seeing a hat is like meeting in person.

A vintage diamond peacock brooch is the inspiration of the fasinator. In the end of Amarcord (1973), a film by Federico Fellini, a peacock escapes and spreads its dazzling tail feathers in the midst of a rare snowstorm. The extradiornary beauty from daily life becomes unforgettable memory of the residents from the town. Art is like this, fragments that stay in the collective memory. This hat is customized made for Ms. Ying Qing from Vancouver.
