I felt the eerie familiarity of Déjà vu when I saw a fox in Hiroshige's painting. I was almost sure I dreamt about this fox back in December 2014, and later learned that it is the guardian angel of Fushimi Inari-taisha (head shrine of Inari). With the practical functions of shrines fading away in the modern society, it is increasingly precious that the little fox and alike show up in our thoughts and dreams, and remind us the importance of a peaceful mind. I'm incredibly grateful for the fox to come into my dream, hence the inspiration for this hat. In May 2017, I brought Inari Okami to attend Inari festival at Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto and finally the fox gets to connect with its inspiration! 

2014年12月梦见的小狐狸们是这顶帽子的灵感来源，在歌川广重的画里再见它身影时才知道它是稻荷神社的守护神。护佑天地，将人与自然相连的神社在现代化的进程中日渐褪去光环，失去了以前的重要地位。也许如此，才会频频回首，出现在有缘人的梦中。谢谢小狐狸，温柔守护的一切。2017年5月，我戴着小狐狸去了京都的伏见稻荷大社，日本最主要的稻荷神社，小狐狸终于跟灵感来源相见。

The vintage earing that I found in East Village, New York features a beauty profile and the letter "DIVA." DIVA means female deity in Italin. Now it specifically refers to a woman of outstanding talent in the world of opera. The hat is an art exchange with talented playwriter Wei Zhang, in exchange for a painted fan by her.

The hat features vintage hand dyed Italian ribbons collected by artist Morgan O'Hara. The hat's name is given by Morgan and story is from Joan Baez's song to Bob Dylan, to memorize the unsettling mood that Morgan and I share in this turbulent time.
